DATE NUT LOAF CAKE 
2 lbs. English walnuts
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. pitted dates
1 c. sugar
1/4 lb. butter
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. self-rising flour

Grease and line a loaf pan with brown paper. Mix flour with nuts and dates and add sugar, softened butter, vanilla. Add beaten egg yolks and fold in egg whites. Bake 1 hour at 275 degrees - ovens may vary.
