FLANK STEAK ITALIANO 
1 flank steak, 1 1/2 lb.
2 cloves garlic or 1/4 tsp. powder or instant minced
1 tbsp. parsley flakes
1/2 tsp. leaf oregano
1 1/4 c. water
1 c. mushrooms
1 tbsp. oil or shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. leaf basil
1 c. red wine or beef broth
1 1/3 c. tomato paste

Cut steak, across grain, into slices and 1/4 inch thick and about 4 inches long. In fry pan, brown meat in oil. Drain off excess fat; add remaining ingredients. Simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours until tender. Serve over spaghetti.

4-6 servings.

Serve with crisp salad and French bread.
