GOLDEN BAKED ONIONS 
1 stick butter
6 onions, sliced
1 c. milk
3/4 lb. gruyere cheese, grated
French bread slices
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
Salt & pepper

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter baking dish. Melt butter and cook onion until tender. Transfer to baking dish. Combine soup, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over onions. Sprinkle with cheese. Dip bread slices in melted butter on one side. Arrange buttered side up over onion mixture to cover completely. Bake 30 minutes.
