PARTY TIME COOKIES
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (10 oz.) bottle maraschino cherries or about 48 cherries
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips or 1 c.
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)

Sift flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder and soda into a large bowl; set aside. In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy and light. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients to creamed mixture; blend well.

Shape dough into 1" balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press centers down with thumb. Drain cherries; save juice. Place 1 cherry in center of each cookie.

In a small pan, combine chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk. Heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in 4 teaspoons cherry juice. Spoon about 1 teaspoon frosting over each cherry, spreading to cover the cherry. If too thick, add more juice. Bake frosted cookies in 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
