FRESH CORN ON THE COB
(MICROWAVE)

Cook fresh corn on the cob in microwave with husks and silk intact. They will cook in their own natural moisture.

Place on dampened paper towel. Turn ears over and rearrange after 1/2 cooking time.

Cooking Timetable:

1 ear - 1 1/2 minutes
2 ears - 3 to 4 minutes
3 ears - 5 to 6 minutes
4 ears - 7 to 8 minutes
6 ears - 8 to 9 minutes.

When ears are hot to the touch, remove and wrap in kitchen towel or foil.

Let stand at least 5 minutes. Remove husks and silk (which is easier than when cold) and serve.

Serve with melted butter.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.

I tried this just last night and oh my goodness it was perfect!!!! So good that my husband wants to have more tonight. I cooked 4 ears but did add 2 extra minutes.

Best way is to cut off 1/2-inch at bottom of cob. Put in microwave for 4 minutes. When done, grab corn at top with paper towel, shake corn out from bottom. Not 1 silk will be left on cob. Very easy and tasty.

Very fast and good I recommend this.

We apparently failed the un-fail-able. Paid attention to every prep detail but corn was cooked very unevenly -- done in some spots, uncooked in others. Darn ... I really wanted it to work. Maybe the microwave isn't powerful enough.

Plastic wrap or zip lock bags release toxins! Please consider wax paper... or as the recipe calls for paper towel.

I forgot to mention, we had a small-scale competition with family members, pitting husk-on microwave corn against paper-towel microwave corn, and the husk-on method won, hands down! No butter required. : )

We've been doing this for a number of years now (the ONLY way we eat corn), and like some of the others who have posted here, we do increase the times some. For us, it's usually 2 min for 1 ear and 5 min for 2 ears. We do turn them over about half way through. We also take the husks off immediately instead of letting the corn stand. I like the suggestion to cut off the stalk end of the corn after cooking to let the corn fall out of the husk. Great idea!

Our family has cooked "corn on the cob" in the microwave for many years & we'll never have it any other way!! .. (personally, I can make a meal of it, I love it that much!!) .. I also found a wonderful way to quickly apply the butter to the cob with no mess at all, I heavily apply the butter to a slice of bread, lay the corn cob on top of the butter, close your hand a little & roll it, this gives the corn an "even coating" with a turn or 2!! Now salt & pepper to taste.. Mmmm!! .. Works Great Every time!! :) .. sorry without chasing the butter all around

I get home at 5, had bought corn on the way and wanted a quick dinner-this recipe worked awesome and it was delicious too! After letting it stay wrapped in the towel, it wasn't as burning hot to eat like after you do it on the stove.

I will never boil corn again. Great instructions. I did soak 2 for a few and the paper towel also. Hit veg on micro it cooked at 2 1/2. Turned them over hit it again. Well couldn't eat 2 now I have to find out what to do with leftover. Thank you.

Awesome in its simplicity

This is the right way to prepare one ear at a time. 90 seconds. In the husk. Not being the patient type, I peeled the corn after a minute of cooling. Too hot to touch, used two paper towels to protect my hands from the heat. Rolled the corn on a stick of butter ( a family tradition) applied liberal salt and pepper... IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER!!!. (Fixed ear number two and three right away. WOW... Thanks.

 Carolyn Allen (New York) says:
I tried this today and it was so easy and so good. Less of a mess than boiling in water. I will be using this method going forward.

I'm always trying to keep calories down when eating anything and with corn on the cob I'll not apply butter and salt (although I love the taste) I usually apply mustard as it enhances the flavor without the calories or once in a while I'll spray olive oil on them and apply salt, I just love corn on the cob.
