CRANBERRY NUT BREAD 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. orange juice
1/2 c. nuts
1-2 c. cranberries
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening
1 tbsp. orange rind, grated
1 egg, well beaten

Sift together dry ingredients and cut in shortening. Combine orange juice, rind and beaten egg. Pour at once into dry ingredients. Mix just enough to moisten. Carefully fold in nuts and cranberries.

Spread into greased loaf pan 9x5x3. Spread 4 sides higher than in the center. Bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. If frozen berries are used, it will take longer to bake.

Bake until crust is golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool about 15-20 minutes. Remove from pan. Store overnight for easy cutting.
