STAINED GLASS COOKIES 
4 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond flavoring
3 med. eggs

Sift flour, salt and soda together 3 times. Cream together remaining 5 ingredients. Combine the 2 mixtures. Shape into 3 inch roll, wrap in wax paper and chill thoroughly. Cut into assorted shapes. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned, about 8 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Frost cookies with bright shades of Stained Glass Icing.

STAINED GLASS ICING:

To 1 pound sifted powdered sugar, add: 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. almond extract Approx. 4 tbsp. milk or light cream to make proper consistency.

Divide icing into bowls and tint with food coloring.
