BROWNIE SHEET CAKE | |
2 c. flour 2 c. sugar 1 stick butter 1/2 c. shortening (oil) 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 c. cold water 1/2 c. soured milk (make by adding 1 tsp. vinegar) Or 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1 tsp. cinnamon Frosting ingredients below Brownies: Combine flour and sugar. Combine butter, shortening, cocoa and water in pan. Bring to a boil and pour over the flour and sugar mixture. Mix together and add 1/2 cup soured milk (or buttermilk), 1 teaspoon vanilla, soda, salt, eggs and cinnamon. Spread in 11 x 13 inch sheet pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Frost while cake is hot. (Start the frosting about 5 minutes before the cake is ready to come out.) Frosting: Bring to boil 1 stick butter, 4 tablespoons cocoa and 1/3 cup buttermilk. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 box powdered sugar and 1 cup nuts. |
