TOM'S ONION SOUP 
3 med. onions, thinly sliced
2 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. flour
2 cans consomme
4 c. water
1/4 c. boiled milk
1/4 lb. grated Swiss cheese
6 slices dried bread
2 tbsp. melted butter

Cook onions with butter until brown. Sprinkle with flour and turn on low flame for about 2 minutes. Add consomme, water and onions and stir with a wooden spoon until it begins to boil. Simmer, uncovered for about twenty minutes. Add boiling milk, stir, pour into casserole. Add bread, cheese and sprinkle with melted butter. Brown under broiler. 4 to 6 servings.
