WINTER FRENCH TOAST | |
2 tbsp. corn syrup (light or dark) 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter 1 cup brown sugar, packed 1 loaf white bread, unsliced w/crusts trimmed 5 eggs 1 1/2 cups milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt In a small saucepan, combine syrup, butter and brown sugar. Simmer until syrupy. Pour over the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish. Slice bread into 12 or 16 slices and place over sugar mixture in dish. Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Serve hot or warm or it will harden in the pan. (Can be reheated). Submitted by: Tom Hausherr |
