BUTTER BRICKLE BARS | |
I sometimes use cashews or mixed nuts when I make these. CRUST: 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 cup margarine 3/4 cup brown sugar Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix flour, margarine and brown sugar until crumbly, like a pie crust. Pat into 9x13-inch pan. Bake at 375°F for 10 minutes. TOPPING: 1 cup butterscotch chips 1/4 cup white corn syrup (Karo) 2 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. water 2 cups shelled peanuts Heat chips, syrup, butter and water in double boiler (or glass bowl over saucepan), stirring until smooth. Add peanuts and pour over first layer. Return to oven and bake for 8 minutes. Cut into bars while warm. Submitted by: Margaret Clark |
