FISH CHOWDER | |
1/4 lb. bacon, diced 1 lb. fish (haddock, cod, hake, etc.) 1 qt. light cream or milk 1-2 onions, diced 2-3 potatoes, diced Salt & pepper to taste Milk (opt.) Saute bacon until brown. Saute onions in bacon. Add potatoes and enough water to cover. Cook until potatoes are somewhat soft. Add fish and cook through. Add light cream (or milk). Salt and pepper to taste. Heat through, but do not boil. May add a pat of butter to each bowlful. Serve with pilot crackers, French bread. Chicken broth may be used instead of water and bacon for lower fat content. |
