1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 1/3 c. evaporated milk 1 box German chocolate cake mix 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips 3/4 c. softened butter 1 c. nuts Combine caramels and 1/3 cup milk in top of double boiler. Stir until melted. Combine cake mix, remaining milk and softened butter. Blend mixture until holds together. Stir in nuts. Press one half of cake mixture in a greased 13x9-inch pan and bake for 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Pour melted caramel evenly over top. Crumble remaining chocolate mixture over caramel and bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Cool slightly and cut into bars. Serve. |
