FLUFFY DUMPLINGS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients together into a bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse corn meal or crumbs. Lightly mix in milk with fork to make a soft dough; stir as little as possible. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough on top of chicken pieces or meat and vegetables in stew. Simmer 10 minutes uncovered, then cover tightly and simmer 10 minutes longer. Makes about 12 dumplings.
