SPAGHETTI CASSEROLE | |
1 1/2 - 2 lbs. ground beef 1 onion, chopped 32 oz. canned tomatoes 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste Salt and pepper to taste 1/2 green pepper, chopped 1-2 tbsp. sugar Pinch of oregano 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can tomato soup 1/4 lb. mushrooms, chopped and sauteed in 1 tbsp. butter 16 oz. spaghetti 1 lb. Cheddar cheese, grated Brown meat with onions and green pepper. Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Fill tomato paste can 1/2 full with water and add to mixture. Add seasonings, tomato soup and mushrooms. Simmer 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook spaghetti (which has been broken into shorter lengths) in boiling salted water, drain, and add to meat mixture. Mix well. Remove from heat. Add 2/3 of cheese and stir until melted. Pour into shallow casserole and top with remaining cheese. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Freezes well. Feeds: 10-12. |
