NOVA SCOTIA COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
3 c. flour
3 c. rolled quick oats
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cold water
3/4 c. ground nuts (optional)

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and cream. Mix in dry ingredients. Add water and nuts. Roll out on floured board. Cut in squares and bake on cookie sheet at 400°F for 15 minutes.

Makes approximately 90 squares.
