FAMILY ROLLS 
1/2 c. lukewarm water
2 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 c. hot water
6 to 7 c. flour

Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Mix shortening, sugar, salt, and hot water. Add 2 cups flour. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast mixture. Add remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Knead 5 minutes. Cover and let rise about 1 1/2 hours until doubled in bulk. Work down and make into rolls. Bake 325 degrees until brown (30 minutes).
