BRAN MUFFINS 
1/2 c. boiling water
1/2 c. All Bran
1/4 c. Crisco
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. All Bran
1 c. buttermilk

Optional:

1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts
1/2 tsp. spice
1 tsp. coconut flavor

Mix 1/2 cup All bran in boiling water and set aside. Cream sugar and Crisco. Add egg. Sift together flour, soda, salt and add one cup All Bran to flour mixture. Add softened All Bran to shortening mixture, then add flour mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Use baking cups and bake at 375°F - 20 minutes.

Yield: 18 muffins.
