CREOLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. oil or shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. sifted flour
Dash salt
2 unbeaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda added to 1 c. boiling water

Mix first 8 ingredients. Add soda and water mixture last. Bake at 350 degrees in a 9 x 13 inch pan until it springs back (about 30 minutes).

TOPPING:

2/3 stick butter, softened
1/2 c. canned milk
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. ground nuts
