BAKING POWDER BISCUITS 
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1/4 tsp. baking soda
pinch of cream of tartar
dash of sugar
3/4 c. buttermilk

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until the consistency of small peas. Stir in buttermilk. Roll out and cut into 10 to 12 biscuits.

Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes.
