TUNA AND CHEESE BEANBURGERS 
5 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained
2 c. fresh bread crumbs (4 slices)
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 c. chopped sweet gherkins
1 (6 oz.) can tuna, drained and flaked
Salt and pepper
Flour
6 slices American cheese

Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a saucepan over low heat; add onion and cook until tender. Mash kidney beans in a large bowl; add onion, bread crumbs, egg, gherkins, tuna, salt and pepper, mix well. Shape tuna mixture into 6 patties and dredge in flour.

Melt the remaining butter in skillet. Add patties and cook on both sides until browned. Place 1 slice cheese over each pattie; cover and cook until cheese is melted.
