WEARING OF THE GREEN DESSERT 
1 (3 oz.) pkg. lime gelatin
1 c. hot water
4 egg yolks
1/4 c. lime juice (juice of 1 lg. lime)
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. whipping cream
4 egg whites
6 oz. vanilla filled wafers (Nabisco), 1 2/3 c.

Add hot water to gelatin. Stir well until dissolved. Set aside to cool while preparing remaining ingredients.

Beat egg yolks until light and lemon colored. Add lime juice and sugar. Cook in double boiler until mixture is thick, stirring constantly. Cool. Whip cream in a small bowl. Beat egg whites in large bowl until shiny (straight peaks will form when beater is withdrawn).

Fold gelatin, egg yolk mixture and whipped cream into beaten egg whites. Roll wafers into fine crumbs. Spread 1/2 of the crumbs evenly on bottom of square 8 inch glass dish. Pour egg white mixture on crumbs. Sprinkle rest of crumbs over top. Chill several hours or overnight. Cut into square pieces for serving. 9-12 servings.
