CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN 
1 c. yellow cornmeal
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. water
1 egg
2 1/2 to 3 lbs. fryer chicken, cut up
Shortening

Combine dry ingredients in a plastic bag. In mixing bowl, combine water and beaten egg. Dip chicken in egg mixture, then add to bag of cornmeal mixture and shake until well coated. Heat about 2 inches of shortening in large skillet to 375 degrees. Add chicken pieces, skin side down. Pan fry about 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown on both sides. 4 to 6 servings.
