1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
2 c. sugar
3 c. oatmeal
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla

Boil first 3 ingredients to soft ball stage (about 3 minutes). Mix in the next 3 ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls on wax paper. Work fast as it hardens quickly. If dough gets too hard, add a little milk or pour into pan and cut like candy.
