ANGEL BISCUITS | |
1 env. dry yeast 1 tbsp. warm water 5 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. shortening 2 c. buttermilk Use ungreased baking sheet. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand 10 minutes. Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add 1 cup buttermilk to flour mixture. Mix well. Add yeast and remaining buttermilk and mix thoroughly. Knead on floured board until smooth. Store in refrigerator in airtight container. This will keep one week. Take out as needed and roll on floured board and cut to desired shape. Place on baking sheet and bake 15 minutes. These rolls do not need to rise before baking. |
