ROMAN APPLE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. flour (reg. or whole wheat) 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. cold butter, cut into bits 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. salt Use hands to crumble mixture until blended not oily. divide crumbs in half. Mix one half crumb mixture with: 1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk 1 egg Place batter in 9 inch greased, oven proof dish. Pare, core and slice 2 to 4 apples over batter. Cover apples with remaining crumb mixture. Dot with butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake 1 hour or more in a 350 degree oven. |
