AUNT JENNY'S HAMBURG BALLS | |
1 lb. hamburger 2 tbsp. finely chopped onion 2 tbsp. chopped green pepper 1/4 c. corn meal 1 tsp. chili powder 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/2 c. milk 1 egg 1/4 c. flour 1/4 cup oil 1 1/2 c. canned or cooked tomatoes or 2 c. tomato juice Combine green pepper, onion, hamburger, corn meal, seasonings, milk, and egg; blend thoroughly. Form into 12 balls. Roll in flour. Brown in hot oil in skillet. Add remaining flour and tomatoes to thicken and make sauce. Cover and bake in very hot oven - 450 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Easy Oven Dinner - Place quartered raw potatoes, halved carrots, and whole small onion in with meat balls as they go into the oven. Our family prefers lots of piping hot mashed potatoes with their meat balls. |
