SNICKER DOODLES 
1 c. soft shortening
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs; mix well. Add flour, cream of tartar, salt and soda which have been sifted together. Blend thoroughly. Chill dough. Pinch off bits of dough and shape into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned; but still soft. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with wrinkled tops. Yield: 5 dozen.
