ECONOMICAL GOLD CAKE 
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
3 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Then vanilla.

Bake in 350°F oven for 55 minutes or until cake test done.

TOPPING:

6 tbsp. melted butter
1/4 cup cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut flakes

After adding above topping, place under broiler for ten minutes and watch carefully.
