CHATTANOOGA STRAWBERRY PIE
1 qt. strawberries
1 c. sugar
1 c. boiling water
Enough cold water to make a paste with cornstarch
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 pastry shell, baked
1 c. whipping cream, whipped
Confectioners' sugar

Combine 1 cup of the smaller berries, sugar and boiling water and bring back to a boil. Strain. Add cornstarch mixture. Cook for a couple of minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and beat. Return to a low heat and cook slowly until thick. Have a baked pie shell ready. Arrange the rest of the berries, which have been washed and picked over, in the shell. Pour the hot sauce over them. When cool, spread whipped cream sweetened with confectioners' sugar on the top. Decorate with whole halved strawberries.
