FRESH APPLE CAKE 
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
4 c. chopped tart apples
3/4 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts

Sift first 6 items together in a large bowl. Add apples, oil, vanilla; mix thoroughly. Beat eggs until light yellow, gradually add sugar to eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Fold egg mixture and nuts to flour and apples. Pour into a greased 9x13 inch flat pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 1 hour.

FILLING:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg, slightly beaten

Mix the above ingredients together. Boil 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour over hot cake in pan.
