1 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
3 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream together sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla and milk. Mix thoroughly. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir gradually into creamed mixture. Chill. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick cut with a glass. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.

Write scriptures out on 1x4 inch pieces of paper. Fold small and place them in the center of circle cookie. Fold over like a tent, press edges together. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
