INDIVIDUAL BAKED ALASKA 
4 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
6 individual pastry shells
1 pt. any flavor ice cream, frozen hard

Beat egg whites until highly frothy. Mix in salt, cream of tartar, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla. Fill centers of the pastry shells with ice cream and cover with meringue. Bake in a very hot oven (450 degrees) about 3 minutes.

This is the easiest recipe I've ever used for these! Make sure you cover all of ice cream and cake with meringue all the way down bottom of cake with no voids. I also whipped meringue to stable peak stage. Use real ice cream, not churned, light or anything else!
