FRESH CUCUMBERS 
3/4 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. plus 1 2/3 c. ice water
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
Dash of black pepper; optional

Mix all together. Pour over cucumbers that have been peeled and sliced. Add sliced onions if desired. Cover and let stand overnight in refrigerator. These will keep several days in refrigerator and stay crisp.
