SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
2 c. molasses
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vinegar
Dash of salt
6 1/2 c. flour or enough to make stiff batter

In a large bowl, mix molasses, sugar and shortening. Add water and soda, salt, spices and vinegar. Add flour last. Put in cool place for 1 hour or more. Roll out 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut with round cookie cutter. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
