MARINATED FLANK STEAK 
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. oil
2 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. chopped fresh ginger root
1 (2-3 lb.) flank steak

Combine all ingredients except steak. Score flank steak on both sides. Place in baking dish and pour marinade over. Marinade 2 to 3 hours, no more, turning once. Grill 8" from coals, 8 minutes each side. Cut thinly on the diagonal to serve.
