SHRIMP GUMBO WITH FILE 
1 med. bell pepper, chopped
1 lg. onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
3 tbsp. butter
2 qt. water
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
Juice and finely chopped rind of 1 lemon
2 cans tomatoes
1 1/2 lb. fresh or frozen shrimp
1 can crab meat
2 tbsp. file

Saute pepper, onion, and garlic in butter until tender, but not brown. Add water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, lemon juice and rind; bring to a boil. Add tomatoes, shrimp and crab; simmer 1 hour. Add file and simmer 10 minutes. Serve with rice; serves 8.
