GARDEN CASSEROLE 
2 c. fresh beans
1 tbsp. butter, melted
3 carrots, scraped & sliced into thin strips
1 lg. green pepper, cut into 1" pieces
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 c. sliced celery
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1 can whole tomatoes, undrained & chopped
3 tbsp. butter

Remove strings from beans and cut into 1" pieces. Wash thoroughly and drain. Pour 1 tablespoon melted butter into a 3 quart baking dish. Tilt to coat all surfaces. Layer beans and the next 4 ingredients in the baking dish. Combine salt, pepper, sugar and cornstarch. Mix well and sprinkle over vegetables. Top with chopped tomatoes and dot with 3 tablespoons butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender. (Can also top with cheese if you wish.) Yield: 10 servings.
