FESTIVE WHITE CAKE | |
2/3 c. butter 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 3 c. cake flour 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. baking powder 1 c. water 4 stiff beaten egg whites 1 tsp. baking powder Thoroughly cream sugar, butter and add vanilla in the cup of water gradually with the flour, salt and the 2 teaspoons baking powder. Beat well after each addition. Fold in beaten egg whites beaten with the remaining teaspoon baking powder. Bake in 2 waxed paper lined 9" layer pans or a 9"x13" pan. Bake in a moderate oven, 350 degrees until a pick comes out clean. About 30 minutes for layer tins, longer for the 9"x13" pan. Frost with Seven Minute Frosting. Makes a good birthday cake. For variety hickory nuts may be added to batter. |
