GREEN BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE
LENTEN LUBYEE BI ZEIT
 
1 lb. wide green beans
3 onions, sliced
1/2 c. oil
1 clove garlic, whole
2 c. fresh tomatoes or 1/2 c. canned tomato sauce
2 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. black pepper

Wash green beans, cut off stems. String and slice beans on the diagonal in half. Fry the onions in oil with garlic. Add green beans and stir and fry about 3 minutes. Add tomatoes, water, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for about 40 minutes.
