CARAMEL COOKIES 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. oatmeal
1 lb. pkg. caramels
1 sm. pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. butter

Sift together flour, soda, and salt. Cream together butter and brown sugar. Combine 2 mixtures and add oatmeal. Press all but 1/2 cup of mixture into 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Melt 1 pound package (about 50) caramels in 5 tablespoons milk. Remove cookies from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over hot crust. Spread melted caramel over top. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of crumbs mixture; bake 15 minutes more.
