ITALIAN CREAM CAKE | |
1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. Crisco 2 c. sugar 5 eggs 2 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 (3 1/2 oz.) can coconut 1 c. nuts 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. coconut flavoring Separate eggs, beat whites until stiff, set aside. Cream butter and Crisco; add sugar, add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each one. Dissolve soda in buttermilk, add with flour, heat well. Add nuts, coconut and flavoring. Fold in egg whites, pour in 3 (9") pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. ICING: 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/2 c. butter 1 box 10X sugar 1 tsp. almond flavor |
