GRANDMA'S SOUR CREAM RAISIN PIE
1 (9 inch) baked pie shell
1 c. raisins (water enough to cover)
2/3 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sour cream
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. water (drained off raisins)
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (opt.)

MERINGUE:

3 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. cold water

Place raisins in a small saucepan. Add water to cover and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and let stand while preparing filling. In a heavy saucepan, mix together sugar, cornstarch and spices; add sour cream and stir well. Beat in egg yolks. Stir in milk.

Cook in medium heat, stirring until pudding comes to a boil. Mixture will be thick. Remove from heat and add drained raisins and 1/2 cup of the water. Put in pie shell and top with meringue. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
