3/4 c. soft butter 3/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1/4 c. dark molasses 2 c. white flour 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. powdered ginger 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves 1/2 tsp. salt Sugar for topping In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg and stir in molasses to mix well. Separately, combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cloves and salt. Stir dry ingredients into moist ingredients to mix well. Roll into small balls and tip 1 side into the sugar. Set sugar side up, on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes. Watch last few minutes so they do not burn. Cookies will flatten during baking. Makes about 4 dozen cookies. |
