ELEPHANT EARS
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. water (warm)
2 c. flour
1 egg yolk
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. milk

Soften yeast in water; mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter as for pastry. Combine milk, egg yolk, and yeast; add to flour. Cover and chill for 2 hours or more. Turn dough unto floured surface; knead a few minutes and form into ball. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll into rectangle, 10 x 18 inch. Spread with 2 tablespoons butter. Sprinkle with mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon. Roll like jelly roll. Cut into 1 inch slices. Mix 1 cup sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon and put into square cake pan. Take slice of dough and press out in the pan (press with your hand) into a 5 inch circle. Put each circle in a greased cookie sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle a little more cinnamon and sugar on each. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. Be careful not to burn.
