SOUTHERN CORNBREAD | |
2 c. self-rising cornmeal 1 egg, beaten 1/4 c. shortening, melted 1 1/2 c. buttermilk Combine all ingredients; stir well. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan; heat in a 450 degree oven for 3 to 5 minutes or until very hot. Immediately fill with cornmeal mixture; bake at 450 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. |
