BAVARIA APPLE TORTE 
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. peeled McIntosh apple slices
1/4 c. sliced almonds

Cream butter, 1/3 cup sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Spread dough on bottom and sides of 9 inch spring form pan.

Combine softened cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Mix well. Blend in egg and vanilla. Pour into pastry-lined pan.

Combine 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon. Toss apples in mixture. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds. Bake at 450 degrees - 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 400 degrees - bake 25 minutes. Cool before removing rim of pan.
