DONUT HOLES | |
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 cup granulated sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 1/4 cup vegetable oil 3/4 cup milk 1 tsp. salt 1 egg 1 tsp. nutmeg or mace vegetable oil for frying Fill a cast iron pan or deep fryer with 1 1/2-inches vegetable oil and heat to 375°F. Combine all remaining ingredients with fork; stir until well mixed. Fry teaspoonfuls of mixture until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Add only as many doughnuts as will float easily to top. Turn with long-handled fork. When golden brown, remove to paper towels to drain, then roll in cinnamon-sugar. (1 tsp. cinnamon to 1 cup white sugar). Alternatively, drizzle with a confectioners' sugar icing. Makes 2 1/2 dozen doughnut holes. Submitted by: Belle |
