AUNT MAE'S CHOCOLATE SHEET CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 1/4 to 2 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 recipe icing (below)

Mix and sift into large bowl sugar, flour, and salt. In saucepan mix water, shortening, butter, and cocoa; bring to boil and pour over flour and sugar mixture and let cool. Add eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla; mix well and pour into 13 x 9 inch greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Ice while cake is still hot. Cool completely.

ICING:

1 box confectioners sugar
1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans

Mix all ingredients together and pour over cake while cake is still hot.
