GOVERNOR SAUCE (GREEN TOMATO PICKLES) | |
2 qts. green tomatoes, sliced 12 med. size onions 2 c. brown sugar (1 lb.) 1 c. cider vinegar Mixed pickle spices, to taste Alternate layers of tomatoes and onions with salt. Let stand overnight. Drain in the morning. Cover with fresh water and boil for 30 minutes. Drain thoroughly. Add brown sugar, vinegar and spices and boil for 1 hour. bottle in sterilized jars. Excellent with cold meats. |
